mike03;...

You may have a fried vertical output IC & other parts associated with it...
Slim to none chance it could be bad connections on that IC , but it's worth a looksee...
Can't find a manual for that one either !!!!

Change the vertical ic and tested the resistors and transistors all fine.I change the caps and re-did the joints followed by a continuity test but the circuit behaves the same any other ideas? After pressing the power button a few times i noticed the picture would come up but went away after about 5sec.and then nothing more from the screen.

mike03;.....

Check for B+ supply voltage from flyback secondary to vertical output IC....
Supply resistor from flyback should be around 2.2~4.7 ohms @ 1/4~1/2 watt...
It may be open...
What is the IC type (Generic number) that set is using for vertical output ????...

It's R327 6.8 ohms 2 watt of of pin 6 of the flyback. I'm not sure why a vertical problem would cause audio and the TV to shut down. I more suspect a power supply failure.
Mike 03

I have the SAMs Photofact for that model and we can walk thru some steps to try to isolate the fault. First, I need to know if the set completly shuts down or just some functions. If the former, check the voltage across C884 and C448. They should be 115 volts.

Ron the vertical ic # is TA8403K. I tested R327 which has a value of 8.2 ohms.and it reads fine.I tested the volt at c884 and got a reading of 105 volts which i think may be o.k,c448 has a fluctuating reading of 60 volts and 0 volts at times so the voltage source for c448 is probably shutting down the set.

Re: [mel] toshiba white horizontal line and intermittent audio [In reply to] Can't Post

mel;.....

The reason I suspected a vertical problem has to do with no vertical pulse going to the micro causing a shutdown to protect from a CRT burn....
I've seen "protect circuits" kick in to save the CRT...
The audio goes when the horiz pulse stops , thereby causing the audio B+ to cease which may/may not be coming from the flyback....
Even tho this is a 19" set & I do not have the manual , that seemed like a possible problem.....
Since you do have the manual , I'll watch.....

BTW:...
6.8 ohms @ 2 watts seems like overkill for that size TV...
I'm NOT challenging your info , just Toshiba's ....

Have a GREAT day & week....Sly....

Mike03
OK 8.2 ohms is shown as an alternate for R327 so we are good there. The schematic also shows an alternative of R101 attached to the hot side of F470 or the down side. If attached to the hot side, pull the fuse and check the voltage across C101 for 33 volts. If attached to the downside, make sure that the fuse is not open. Also check R470 for .75 ohm 2 watt for ohms and solder joints. The fact that it fires up and then shuts down puzzles me. Post back with what you find.

Ron
If it helps, the chassis is TAC 9500 or TAC 9501. It applies to model number CF13E22/23, CF19E22, CF20E26, and CL14E26

I finally got to try to download the file & whaddayouknow ???
This is what appeared;=>....

Re: [mike03] toshiba white horizontal line and intermittent audio [In reply to] Can't Post

I have a friend that had a similar problem some time ago: I remember that he consulted with his tech www.tvrepairjacksonvillefl.com and he found: a very very high frequency that could be regulated inside the TV. Now I´m not really sure that it is the same problem as yours because my friend TV had horizontal white lines and a rare noise also. I consider you must look for professional opinion.

Re: [mike03] toshiba white horizontal line and intermittent audio [In reply to] Can't Post

I suspect that your new vertical IC has also blown causing the F301 to blow. The only components that are in the B+ power supply to the vertiical IC are D302, C310, F301, D301 and C308. When the set on turned on but blank screen, check for 115 volts across C884 and C448, with F301 pulled, check for 26 volts across C310 and post back results.

I tested d302 replace c310 and 308. I did the test with f301 fuse removed with dark screen. The results are c884=0v c448=0v and c310=33v. The same test i did a while back with white line across screen has all the correct voltage across each component.
