I'm a bit leary about teling you how to fix this due to the fact you appear to have difficulty following detailed instructions...Unsure...

FYI:
You CAN put more than one pix in a single post...

I think I can find one for you when the time comes....

NOT usually...
DID you mess with ANY of them ????

Ron why when looking down in to crtr's blue isnt as bright as grn. and red kinda light blue changing back wires no change

That's due to an adjustment that's needed...

NEED answer to this:=>.....

If so , did you make ANY adjustments there ???...
Just out of curiousity , where do you live ???"""

billmill1;....

First off , I'm NOT mad , pissed or upset with you in any way !!!
Being born in Atlanta does NOT make you stupid...
Being stupid does NOT mean you live in Atlanta...
I do NOT think you are in ANY way stupid...
Based on the way you write your posts , it looks like you could use a bit more education..
Spelling , sentence construction , punctuation , etc....
NO OFFENSE INTENDED !!!...

Asking questions does NOT bother me one iota !!!..

Back to the TV...

Let me clarify some things....

You have J484 and J485 going to their correct CRTs...
J484 goes to green & J485 goes to blue...
Correct ???...

You can move the red convergence up , down , left & right...
Correct ???..
You can move the blue convergence up , down , left & right...
Correct ???..
What do you mean by "factory remote" ???..
What color is the remote ???..
Black , grey or green ???..

The lines in the pix on far left side look like they will line up well....
The lines in the pix next to that one look like they are lined up fairly well...
When I get answers to the "Qs" above we'll start adjusting...

The "403" Forbidden means you deleted that pix from imageshack & is no longer available...

I request the model number of the TV...
IF possible , can you take a good , clear pix of the original remote you are using & post it ???
THANKS....

Here we go;....
For starters;...
We need to center the range of the blue & red convergence adjustments in order to get the next step correctly done...
Lets start with the red convergence adjustments...
Cover the blue & green CRTs so nothing shows onscreen except the red cross...
1st , move the red cross all the way up as far as it will go...
Put your trigger finger on the screen just above the horizontal line part of the cross & keep it there...
Now move the cross down as far as it will go & put your thumb just below the horizontal line of the cross & keep it there..
Now move the red cross to place the horizontal line about half way between your trigger finger & thumb...
Leave it there...

Now move the red cross all the way to the left...
Put your trigger finger on the screen on the left edge of the vertical line of the red cross & keep it there....
Now move the red cross all the way to the right as far as it will go & put your thumb on the right edge of the vertical line & keep it there.....
Now move the red cross to place the vertical line about half way between your trigger finger & thumb...
Leave those settings where they are...

Cover the red & green CRTs so nothing shows onscreen except the blue cross...
Repeat the above procedure with the blue convergence adjustments...

Leave ALL adjustments set till I give you the next set of adjustments to do...

That may be later today or tomorrow AM...
The next series of adjustments will be done from inside the TV & you will need someone to help you...
Their help will be telling you how you are doing & to guide you...
NO physical or technical requirements needed..
I will also need a pix of the lower back part of the TV with the cover off & looking toward the front of the set...
THANKS...Smile...

billmill1;...

I hope you gained about 5 lbs from all that Thanksgiving dinner you ate..Wink...

In your pix below:=>...

the Red & Blue look like the are EVENLY apart...Correct ???
Take a ruler & measure the distance on EACH end & post results...
The Green IS slanted...
When we get to the adjustments , do NOT mess with the Red in ANY way....
Reason is that the red adjustments are NOT disturbed & we WILL use that as a reference to get the green & blue lined up...

The adjustments are at the bottom of the CRTs...
The pix below shows the back of the TV...

The lower parts of the CRTs will be hard to get to & you have to have the TV on while you do the adjustments..
SOOoo , see if the speaker grille in front is hiding an acess panel by pulling on the sides to remove it...
The speaker grille is held onto the TV with velcro pads & should release the grille with a firm tug...

THANKS....Sly....

billmill1;.....

OK , you're going to have to do this from the back...
Do not remove ANYTHING from the inside !!!
Looking from the back toward the front of the TV , which side is the blue CRT on , left or right..
The green CRT is in the center & from what I see , you should be able to get at that CRT & the one on the right side fairly easily...
With the TV OFF & UNPLUGGED , see if you can reach SAFELY the bottom of the CRTs with your hand & touch the bottom of the yokes of the green & red CRTs without hitting any other wiring etc....
I need one more pix...
I need a pix the same as the one in my post that you took with the 3 crosses , except , with some heavier string diagonally across all corners so it can be seen in the pix easily...
LEAVE the string on the TV as in the next series of adjustments the string will be needed...
THANKS...Smile...

Yes , I did have a nice Thanksgiving & hope you had the same..Smile..

billmill1;....

PERFECT !!!!

The crosses lined up EXACTLY as I hoped....
The Red cross is EXACTLY where it should be , DEAD CENTER !!!.......
Reason is that you did not mess wih it.....
NO OFFENSE !!!!
The Green , however , has 2 problems...
One is that the cross is off center , easily fixed..
Two is that the line is slanted .....
Requires some expertise....

Quote
what do i need to get to around?

You will have to loosen a clamp on the CENTER CRT (Green) & turn the yoke slightly to get the Green horizontal line straight across & parallel to the red horizontal line...

In the pix below , the Green arrow shows where the clamp is located...

http://imageshack.us/...58/billmillyoke1.jpg

Depending where the screw is at , it may be tough to get at while the CRT is in the set...
See if you can see a small Philips head screw on the clamp that you can get at to loosen ...
Do this with the TV off & unplugged...
Do NOT loosen the clamp YET !!!
Once we get past this glitch , the fun begins...
The easy part is next...

Post results...

Re: [billmill1] philips/magnavox blue crt ground wires [In reply to] Can't Post

billmill1;....

EXCELLENT !!!!.....

With the TV off ,
CAREFULLY loosen the clamp till the yoke just starts to feel loose...
You will have to hold the yoke in place as you loosen the screw so it doesn't suddenly slide down & snap the CRT module & possiby snap the CRT neck...
Loosen the yoke so that it is snugly in place yet you can turn it a tad counterclockwise from your point of view...
IF YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE DOING THIS with the TV on , have a friend tell you when the green horizontal line is straight across & parallel to the red horizontal line...
When he/she says it is , lightly tighten the clamp so the yoke stays in place & check the line for yourself...
When you turn the yoke , turn it by grabbing the outer grey plastic section above the clamp...
While you are turning the yoke , keep it UP FULLY towards the top of the CRT..
USE CARE NOT to break the tabs on the lower section of the yoke...
IF you break them , you are screwed...
See pix below;=>....

When the green horizontal line is straight across & parallel to the red horizontal line , measure it as you did with the blue & post results...
When you are finished , tighten the clamp..
Use care when you do that as you can easily snap the neck of the CRT...
So do NOT over tighten it...
Please post a pix....
THANKS...Sly...

billmill1;......

OK.....

In the pix below;=>....

The tabs circled are the centering tabs...
Somehow while you changed the coolant they got moved off kilter on the green & blue CRTs...
You will need a piece of cardboard or a magazine to cover the lens on the blue CRT so no blue is seen onscreen & a friend to advise you of your progress...
Once you have covered the blue CRT you will be adjusting the "Green" CRT tabs...
They should turn clockwise & counterclockwise without too much trouble....
IF they are stuck , do NOT force them to move...
Let me know...
Try to move 1 tab at a time to get the green cross to cover the Red cross completely...
You will see that when you move a tab the pix will shift in one direction...
If it does not go where it should , move the other tab...
It takes trial & error to get the crosses to line up...
But they WILL line up...
Once you have the green cross covering the red cross , move the cardboard or magazine from the blue CRT lens to the green CRT lens & adjust the tabs the same way on the blue CRT...

Please post pix when this is done...
Do NOT ADJUST the convergence adjustments YET !!!!
We still have a bit more to check/do...

billmill1;....

IF you look at the pix in my post from the top...
There are 2 tabs sticking up...
One of the tabs will move the cross up & down....
The other will move the cross left & right..
They are not marked as to which way they move...
Those tabs are part of rings that are part of the yoke that slide around in a circular fashion...
Those rings go completely around the yoke...
To adjust them grab 1 tab & turn it to the right or left as viewed from the pix...
The pix will respond one way or another...
It will be a "trial & error" adjustment as they interact with each other...
Reminder;...
""IF they are stuck , do NOT force them to move...
Let me know""...

In your pix below;=>...

The Red cross is DEAD CENTER where it belongs !!!!..

In the pix below;=>...

THE RED & ALL THE CROSSES HAVE SHIFTED TO THE LEFT !!!!...
