You know the TV screen the thing that you watch movies and play games on. The glass part on the front of the tv. lol Right now i just have the board nothing is plugged in it's just the board that's it i would have to go get the rest from my basement that's why asking you does the screen have to be plugged in.

Re: [Uzail] Sanyo tv won't turn on [In reply to] Can't Post

Uzail;....

The "screen" as you call is it called the CRT....(OR , picture tube)....
& NO the CRT does not have to be plugged in at this time....

Now for those readings;=>....
(Leave the HOT out of the set..)

Method #1=>...
(Have you found Q401 ???)

Set the chassis in such a way that you can SAFELY read the voltage (About 130 vdc) from the center pin of the HOT to chassis ground....
Have the red lead of the meter hooked up to the center pin of the HOT to chassis ground.....
Turn the TV on...
See IF it STAYS on ....
Post readings & IF it stays on....
IF it stays on:
Go to Q401...
Right at the bend of the heatsink for the HOT & between it & the heatsink for the vertical out IC (IC501= LA7841) is a small transistor (Q401)...
With the board in a SAFE position you need to CAREFULLY read the voltage on the collector & the base pins...
The collector will go to T401 & have about 130 vdc (OR 38 vdc) when turned on ...
The base will have R404 hooked up to it & should have about 2 vdc (OR .4 vdc) when turned on...
The 3rd pin (the emitter) goes to ground & will read a short when you use ohms with the TV off & unplugged...
Post ALL readings & answer my questions....THANKS....

Same readings , just a different way to get them IF the TV does NOT stay ON.....
Method #2=>...

Unplug the TV for about 5 mins....
This allows it to reset itself & let that 130 vdc dwindle down a bit.....
Have your meter hooked up to a check point where you want to read a voltage...
Plug the set in ....
Note what your meter reads....
Turn the TV on....
Note what the meter reads....
Repeat this for each voltage...
Unplug it, wait , plug it in & take reading...
Post new readings....
Be absolutely CERTAIN you are using the tuner case as ground....
Please post readings when you first plug the TV in & when you turn it on for each test....

Use one of the above methods to get the readings I asked for...
What I want is the volts on Q401 base with the TV off & the TV on....
AND the volts on Q401 collector with the TV off & on....

Also;=>...
Look for IC101 near the center of the board....
It's a large 52 pin IC...
I need the readings from pins 21 , 23 & 26 With the TV ON....
Use CARE with your probe , because if you slip off a pin & short it out , your TV could be history...Unsure...

Have fun.....

Re: [Ron.M] Sanyo tv won't turn on [In reply to] Can't Post

Okay the HOT is out of the set. On the first method I did what you said i put the red lead to the middle pin on the HOT which is out of the set mind you. it made a click and then after like 3 seconds it turned off so i'm going to the next method you said to make a check point do you want me to connect the red lead to the q401? and then take all those readings? also after i turn it on and off like 3 times i won't make the click anymore, but if i unplug it and wait then plug it back on it will make the clicks not sure if that means anything

PS sorry i'm soooooo slow i'm not that smart i'm trying as hard as i can though

I have the Service manual for this TV. I have the same problem but have not taken the time to fix. If you need any info from the schematic, pinout voltages, etc..... , let me know if I can be of any assistance. Maybe your diagnosis might make my job easier.

That is a VERY generous offer that I'd like to take you up on...
My manual is NOT the exact one for Uzail's TV...
Do you have the exact manual & is it digital or paper ????
If it is digital , do you have a way to send it to me via internet ????

Thanks for your help....Smile....Sly....

It stayed on long enough to get a reading....WHAT did you read ????

Let me simplify this & see if it helps....

(ALL readings will be used with the RED lead & set the meter for DC volts)

With the set off & unplugged put the red lead to the center of the HOT...
Plug it in ....
See what the meter reads...WRITE IT DOWN !!!!
Turn the set ON & see what the meter reads....WRITE IT DOWN !!!!
Unplug the TV....Wait....
Now go to the collector of Q401...Plug TV in....
See what the meter reads....WRITE IT DOWN !!!
Now turn the TV on....See what the meter reads....WRITE IT DOWN !!!!
Unplug the TV....Wait...
Now go to the base of Q401...Plug TV in....
See what the meter reads.....WRITE IT DOWN !!!!
Turn the TV on....See what the meter reads....WRITE IT DOWN !!!!
Now do the SAME thing with IC101....

Look for IC101 near the center of the board....
It's a large 52 pin IC...
I need the readings from pins 21 , 23 & 26 With the TV ON....
Use CARE with your probe , because if you slip off a pin & short it out , your TV could be history...Unsure...

Write down the reading when you first plug in the TV & also after you turn it on for each pin....

Post ALL results....

Yes it means something....That is why we are unplugging & plugging the TV in to get the readings we need...

Re: [Ron.M] Sanyo tv won't turn on [In reply to] Can't Post

Yes. It's the exact manual for the Sanyo DS35500 which is the same as model AVM-3650G. Chassis # 35500-00 & Chassis# g5d-3650g0. Purchased through Tritronicinc.com back in 2005 but really never took the time to fix television. It's on paper and schematic is fold out. I guess I could scan each page if need be. Could take some time due to xmas season and work but the info you've been feeding has been spot on.
Let me know.

Re: [ptepe] Sanyo tv won't turn on [In reply to] Can't Post

ptepe;.....

I'm flipping back & forth between 2 manuals....
One is for a Sanyo model AVM-3259 with a series of G5R-3259 chassis....
The other one is for DS-31590 with a 31590-0(_) chassis...
I think that these 2 (especially the G5R) are probably the same or VERY similar to your G5D series..
If the schematic is a fold-out , I guessing that the manual you have is probably a "Sams Photofact" for his model....
IF that's the case , then I suspect that scanning it will be a chore with less than desireable results with NO fault of your own....
So , I don't want to put you thru that...
MANY , MANY THANKS for your generous offer...
I REALLY appreciate your intentions to help....
I'd like to wish a Merry Christmas & a VERY Happy , Healthy & Prosperous New Year to you & your loved ones....

Give me a few days and I'll scan these pages. There could be some valuable info others may need to solve this issue. I believe I can post them as files on this sight. I would be glad to assist.

Re: [Uzail] Sanyo tv won't turn on [In reply to] Can't Post

Uzail;.....

Time for me to say goodbye....

You & I are having a communication problem that is not getting any better...
I asked for some simple readings that should have appeared something like this....

HOT , plugged in;130 vdc or ???
HOT , set turned on : 130 vdc or ???

Q401;
Base , set off, X vdc
Base , set turned on , X vdc
Collector , set off , X vdc
Collector , set turned on , X vdc

IC101;set on....
Pin 21 , X vdc
Pin 23 , X vdc
Pin 26 , X vdc...

Instead , after 3 days of asking & explaining , I get a LONG list of numbers I'm going have to ask someone else to translate into working numbers....
NOT going to happen....

It's painfully apparent that you severely lack basic electronic &/or TV repair knowledge....
That complicates matters...

You basically appear to be a nice , sincere person....
Do NOT take what I said as a personal attack....
It is NOT meant that way...
It's just that after a given length of time & effort , there comes a time to make a sane decision....

Someone else may come along & help you....
I wish you the best....Wink...

BTW:
I deleted posts 5 & 7 that had "Listen up" in them....
Might make things easier for you....

Good Luck.....Sly.....
