If the set come on for a few second so you can see the screen come uplets try something simple so the set will tell you whats wrong, first have the remote control handy, second shut the set off and then hold BOTH the volume down and chanel down on the front of the set till it turns on, then quickly use the remote control to scroll down to event log and hit the enter button, then post the error codes back here, it does sound like you have the old smily ribbion conector problem this will be evedent by a butt load of the error code 33

Found this on another website:==>

"""One morning I went to turn on the TV for the kids, and it just kept turning itself off. It worked perfectly until that day.""

Possible solution:==>""unplug 2 ribbon cables they are white then plug them back in should fix it""
Worth a try.....

Well first I tried removing the ribbon cables and putting them back in. No change.

I bet you probable mean what they were discussing here, but they never examined the "connector sockets" for those ribbon cables closely enough. However very shortly after this post somebody developed "butterfingers" while testing for a voltage and now set won't stay on as long. I should have recalled the deformed connector from reading previous posts on other sites.

IF you'd have read this:..

The tv will power on now but only momentarily and wont stay on long enough to achieve power on the screen.

You would have not said this:...

While that may have helped, you missed some important info which leads me to doubt this:==> ""Lead"" tech Maier TV....It appears to me that the HV is NOT coming up long enough to get a raster , therefore NO image...
This could be due to no vertical sweep , which needs to be determined...
PLEASE do NOT misread me....Your tip IS helpful (& Keep them coming ) , just NOT in this case...

Consider this & reply , for starters....Laugh.....==>

Quote
We need to see if you have ANY deflection at all....
1st we'll check out the vertical....
Then we'll check for High Voltage...
I'll need a couple of pix....
One of the flyback area....
The 2nd is where the Vertical output (Pin # 5 ) connects to the
yoke connector....I need top views of both...

I managed to find a service manual for your TV....Sorry , its NOT free....
It's a downloadable file & costs $15.99...
Here's the link:....

http://www.servicemanuals.net/...74/pos1/results.aspx

IF you decide to get it,do so at your own risk as I have NO
experience with that company....
IF you do ,get the version for R52WH74YX38 <<<(Acts as a DIRECT link) as I think it's the right
one....
If the "YX38" is not on the label on your set, don't worry about it....It's STILL a ITC222A chassis....
IF & when you do,I will need to see it...So that means you will have to email or PM it to me....
As usual , Your call....

Let me know what you decide to do....OK....

Good Luck....

Before I spend any more money on this project I would really like to know what the odds of this TV actually working in the long run are.

Before I spend any more money on this project I would really like to know what the odds of this TV actually working in the long run are.

Let's do a recap here before I answer that.....

From post # 14

Quote
I have found the deflection board part number from a bit of research to be an RCA p/n: 271865. If I could find a replacement for this at a reasonable price I would just go ahead and do that.

In post # 17, I replied;....

Quote
NOT reccommended!!!...
Reasons are;...
1st:..The board WILL be expensive as it is complex..
2nd:...More importantly, when you change out this board , you WILL have to go into the "Factory Menu" to match the new board to the rest of your set...
This IS an area of expertise I do not think you have...

In addition to the above reply , we do NOT know which board you "MAY" want to replace...There is NO magic bullet here....

In post #24 you ordered some caps...I estimate maybe you spent $15-$20.00.....

In post #37 you said;...

Quote
IF you know of anywhere to obtain the ITC222A service manual or schematic at a reasonable price I could justify paying for it but I cant seem to find it.

The info for that post is coming up.......

In post #39 this happened...

Quote
but as I removed the probe I accidentally shorted pin 4 to pin 6. Now pin 4 reads -0.02vdc and pin 6 reads 0.28vdc

And in part;....

Quote
I may have messed up the vertical output IC but that may have been the problem to start with. This IC is obviously damaged

Which you did.....

In post #49 , you replaced it....

In posts #50 & 56 , I found a service manual for you for $15.99......

End of recap.....

*********************************************

Now , I'll answer your question....
It's obvious to me that you were willing to spend upwards of $150.00 for a board we have NOT yet determined is bad....NOR do we know "which" one....
You spent maybe $20.00 on caps & maybe $15.00 on the Vertical IC & the other part....Total=Approx $35.00...OR less.....
I have been going the cheap route here.....
Rather than telling you to junk the TV OR replace "a" board , I'm trying to nail down the component parts causing the problem...
What has me upset here is you balking at $16 for a service manual , yet you wanted to get a "NEW" board....

I can NOT & WILL NOT give you ANY odds on a successful repair....
TOO many variables here including your abilities....
IF I was there & had my hands on that TV , it WOULD be a different story.....

As usual , it's YOUR call.....

PlEASE give me the decency of a reply as to what your decision is.....THANK you....Sly.....

My sincere apologies for the misunderstanding. I am not complaining in the least about the money spent on this project. Money is really not the issue. Its my confidence in this tv repair being a successful project, not to be confused with my confidence in you. I have full faith in you as a guide however I am accustomed to the PC world where just because you find the problem doesn't always mean its fixable. I really appreciate you taking the cheapest route with this project and I appreciate your guidance even more. I suppose you are right about there being too many variables to tell me odds so I apologize for the poorly thought out question as well. I have every intention of buying the manual, yet havent gotten around to doing so yet.

In the Computer world , I couldn't agree more...(From personal experience)
In the TV world , what stops ANY TV from being repaired is parts availability & economic reasons...IF parts & the money is there , 99.9999% of TV's can be repaired...

This part bothers me , because I'm used to either having the manual OR locating a FREE one online....
That said, I'm NOT thrilled about suggesting you get the manual & then email a copy to me...

IF & when you get it , re-post & we'll go from there....OK....Sly......

Have a GREAT evening....

Well I paid for and received the info. They gave me a VERY extensive zip folder full of all ITC222 and ITC222A chassis schematics and such. I will upload just the schematic of the deflection board for now since the zip folder is over 120MB!!

It however is not a PDF but a JPG picture.

I uploaded it here.

I have seen this problem before too. Sometimes CL031 or CL120 develop a cold solder joint . It is easly missed . It allows the set to fire up but then will go into shut down . Also CL031 sometimes tends to bulge at the sides meaning it needs replaced . Remove it and check for discoloration on the underside as well . Should be a solid white color , sometimes it turns orangish for overheating . If your meter can check these types of caps check it with it out of the board . The value is listed on it . they do make several versions of this board so it will vary upon the exact chassis # of the set . Just me 2 cents . ( P.S. Ron. M ) Hey are you the same one i help with your CTC169 Chassis with the pinchusion problem ? If so how is the set still doing? Team Tech
