People! I got the TV on Wednesday. I'm picking it up on Sunday. The speakers deal works at the store too, in fact, they were out of stock, so I worked out a deal to trade the yamaha speakers for these pioneer set (see link), it includes the receiver and a wireless speaker, it's a $500 value too and good enough for a 16' x 16' living room like mine. Do you think the coupon will work as a rebate or a discount? I guess I could return it and buy it again... [:/] Good luck and thanks for the info.

I am considering buying this TV online. I called and they will not accept the 10% discount but they do give a Gateway KAS-103 Home Theater with a DVD worth $299. Is there any downside to buying online as opposed to the store?

I went down to BB today and bought this sucker. 10% discount using the Url above and got the free Yamaha speaker system ($499), they match the TV perfectly. BB are coming out on Sunday to deliver it, but I got the speakers with me home when I left the store. I'm really happy with all that for $2250 including tax. Now I'm just waiting for delivery...

I went to BB tonight and they would not give me the 10% and the free speaker system when they rang it up it would only give me one or the other.

Best Buy didn't have this set when I went to the store. In fact, no one there had even heard of it. I went ahead and bought it online last Friday 07/16 and it was in my house by noon on Wednesday 07/21. I did all of the other hook-up work beforehand so that when the TV arrived all they had to do was connect up the cables and plug it in, they were there for less than 10 minutes. I wasn't too thrilled with the fact that they unpacked it in the middle of the street, but so far my neighbors havn't broken in and stolen it yet. DVD's and HD programming is awesome on this set. I'm very happy with it so far.

Just wanted to leave a post and let everyone know that i too am a new owner of this TV. The 10% discount helped make the decision a little easier. The store didn't have the Yamaha speaker system in stock at the time of purchase, but i did get a raincheck for that speaker system.

So far i'm very happy with the TV. I'm getting an HDTV cable box on Monday, so i'll get to enjoy the 10 or so HDTV channels our local cable company offers.

I also wanted to comment that I too have noticed the slightly prominent green hues this TV generates, but after some Video adjustments, this seems to nearly disappear. But when using the built-in video modes, the greens are more apparent.

I purchase the TV three weeks ago from BB. They had it on sale, $115 off and 18 months no interest. BB has matched the Circuit City 24 months no interest, The 10% off coupon that I saw on a previous thread had linked to worked on Friday night and BB took it off my invoice. Total savings of $350 plus 24 months of no interest. I could not find anyhing on the speaker offer?

The picture looks great an I am extreamly happy with this as a bedroom TV.

I saw this TV at BB today. Thought it was a great looking TV. I have Dishnet but the bedroom does not have the receiver in it so I would be using just regular Coaxial (not svideo or componant video cable). Do you think the picture will be the same or worse than just a regular tv set? I don't have HD set up w/dishnet yet.

Thanks for any info,
steve

We bought this tv last Wed. Didn't want the free speaker system offered (speakers too big for our placement and didn't include a receiver) We also looked up what Best Buy said was a 500.00 value and you can get it for 289.00 on line. We talked them down 200.00. Then when we saw the 10% coupon someone on another thread told us about...THANKS!!! I took my receipt in on Fri. and they took off some more money. Final price was 1,899.99. We love the TV and it fits perfect on the middle stand in our bridge shelving furniture unit. Getting HDTV digital cable today.
Thanks to all for all the info.( Will be watching for that green tint)

That's a pretty good price (but I’m assuming that the $1899.00 doesn't include the sales tax, i.e. out the door price).

We paid just under $2000.00 for our set, which included some finagling with the original price and the use of the 10% sales discount, plus a rain check for the speaker system (I mentioned earlier… might be seeing that on eBay in the near future since I already have a surround-sound system in my home), plus a reward zone card good for nearly $100.00 in-store credit! So, all-in-all, not a bad deal if I say so myself.

By the way, I got my HDTV cable box yesterday. WOW, Discovery HD channel is unbelievable! The view on the screen is like standing there (where the video was shot) in person.

I went to BB two weeks ago and saw the Zenith. When I got home I checked the web for more info and found this great forum. I got a chance to return to BB today to take a second look at the TV. The green is very visible. The bigger Samsung was next to the Z and had better color. There were maybe 30 TVs showing the same video. No other TV had the green, I did however notice other problems with some. Thanks to this forum, I see more and say more than just, "WOW - big cool TV." How do these stores upload their video to all these TVs? There must be signal loss with all these TVs hooked up to maybe only one DVD player. The computer question was never answered. How does it look? I'm thinking about using a GyroMouse. I hope to make it back to BB and ask to play with the Z's remote to adjust the green issue. Thanks to all!

I've seen this TV at Best Buy next to a 42" Sony and it looked pretty comparable. I'm leaning toward getting one. But what is this "screen door" effect that a couple of posts mention? I haven't run across the term before. Thanks!

Re: [Another Guest] Zenith 44" Rear-Projection LCD TV E44W46LCD [In reply to] Can't Post

I am picking up my Zenith E4W46LCD at Best Buy tomorrow. My current DVD player does not have progressive scan and I want to buy a new player. I have been looking at the Samsung HD-841 because it is the only universal player I can find locally that features a DVI connector. I notice, however, that both the HD-841 and the E44W46LCD do the 720p upconvert. I am wondering whether it is worth getting the Samsung given that the TV will do the upconvert as well (I assume via the component input). Anyone have any suggestions for a progressive scan player? I do not want to spend more than $250.

The 1.899.00 does not include 7 % sales tax. We also bought the BB reward zone card for 9.99 inorder to save an additional 4% on the TV and can be used for a year for other purchases.
We also got the HDTV digital cable put in yesterday. Great picture, the guy said the Discovery Channel is one of the best to view. There really are not as many HDTV channels as I had hoped for. They said by 2005 all the channels will be HDTV.
We're looking into Home Theatres now....any good deals found out there?
Looking to spend around 250-300.

All TV stations were originally going to be required to be broadcasting digitally, but not necessarily in HD, by 2005. I believe that has now been pushed back to 2012.

Ok....I want this TV....I only have a couple of questions.

1. Any idea if there is some sort of limit to hoy many TVs BB employees can buy? Reason I ask is that I know someone who works there and might ask him to buy it for me.

2. Any idea when BB might be sending out another 10% coupon....sucks I missed the cutoff by 2 days.

Yes I am pinching pennies.....it's the only way the wife will let me get this thing.Smile

Hi -

I am hopeing you can help me out. We just bought this TV as well as the Samsung HD841 DVD and I must have it incorrectly connected. Did you run the DVD directly to the TV with the DVI cord that came with the DVD?

I had the same problem and it shouldn't have taken more than a few minutes to fix. You need to connect the dvd player using just a regular video cable first, then go into the dvd player's settings and switch the output to dvi. Then click over into the tv's dvi input and accept the setting. That should do it.

Re: [lcdtv] Zenith 44" Rear-Projection LCD TV E44W46LCD [In reply to] Can't Post

I bought the Zenith 44 lcd e44246lcd at bb last month and like it . I got the samsung 841 dvi player to use dvi out and my cable company [charter] just offered hd in my area using the explorer 3250 hd box. I connect with this only using component out. when you set up the cable box if you tell it that your set only recieves 1080i or 720p it will upconvert everything to either setting. many of the regular 480i channels look outstanding upconverted to 1080i or 720p! The hd channels all look outstanding. I have stunned several people with the quality of regular tv then switched to hd to blow their minds. but some channels with poor signal sources look no better. The dvd dvi out again allows upconversion to 720p or 1080i and newer dvd's look great upconverted [they also look great at 480p]. regarding "greenish" tint issues. I think that this has more to do with lcd rptv technology. projection lcd is weak with blacks and greys , dlp is superior in this area. lcd is cheaper and may show bright day time colors with more accuracy i.e. less harshness better mixing. Thus Master and commander on dvd looks poor when it is shot in fog in the night , there is greenish blotching in the dark grey black fog shots. that would be a good test dvd to bring into a store. I suspect that a dlp set would look better. I never considered that this might be because of the dvi out , will have to try connecting the dvd player with component out to compare. Bright colored dvd'd like the 5th element look outstanding on the 44" zenith. The set looks best when viewed from 8 to 12 feet away. if you are much closer you should concider a direct view crt tube tv. I used the sound&vision home theater tune-up My settings are: contrast=60; brightness=60; color=70; sharpness=40; tint=r5. [the test dvd suggests tint at 0 but it looks better to me with r5 and less color] I set it at medium or cool. because the native resolution is 720p I thought that all upconversions would look best at that resolution however upconverting normal 480i channels may look a little better at 1080I?? My best explanation for this may be that this set may make a 1080I picture by projecting 2 alternating 540p pictures and it may have an easer time with this upconversion. overall I like this tv and am happy with the purchase.

I saw the set at Best Buy today and was pretty impressed. I do have one question for those who have the set. The online manual shows the width as 39.2", but the specs in Best Buy showed approximately 41". Since I'm not going to have the chance to get back to Best Buy for several days, could someone measure their's?

2" may not seem like much but it's the difference between fitting in my entertainment center and not fitting.

Thanks.

First of all....Awewsome TV! Just got it today!
I had the RCA 50" DLP, which was great.....but it had so much background noise (i.e. internal cooling fans), that I couldn't even enjoy it.

The Zenith is quiet as can be........
Can someone please give me some advice. I think Thread #70 may have been referring to this but every thing was set up correctly on my last set. After I just switched the TV's out (RCA for the Zenith), I've lost all of my "Widescreen" options in On-Demand. Also, DVD's don't take up the entire screen when the TV is in the 16:9 format. I've double and triple checked and my XBOX (also my DVD player), is definitely on the Widescreen format. Why can't I take advantage of the full capability of the TV?

HDTV is awesome, though! It DOES take up the entire screen. Thanks for everyone's previous discussions. This forum is really the only place I've found on the web with quality info on the Zenith.

I haven't noticed green
